I’ve got a special invitation for you, but first...a little background.

When I was pregnant I read that for trauma survivors, birth could either be re-traumatizing and horrific or empowering and healing. In that moment I decided, I was going to use childbirth as an opportunity to heal.

With the help of a doula, a journal and lots of loved ones I had a really powerful birth experience.

Over the past 7 years of working with women to bring their visions to life, I’ve realized that the same can be said about your dreams:

Giving birth to your dreams can either be painful and paralyzing or healing and liberating.

The experience you have ultimately depends on:

  • how well you know what you need to succeed, and
  • how committed you are to creating an environment to meet those needs. (And by environment I mean habits, support system, time and physical space.)

The first day I dropped my son off at the babysitters and headed back to work, I cried the whole subway ride. That’s when I starting dreaming of running my own business so I could spend as much time with my son as I wanted.

Fast forward twelve years later and I’m finally fully self-employed. Now my new dream is to help as many women as I can clear the way to their dreams. I love hearing what your dreams are and strategizing on how to move through the obstacles between where you and where you want to be.

My special gift is tuning into what’s unique about you and connecting you to the right resources and tools to move you forward. And I need to share it, just like you need to share your gifts and passions! So....

I’d like to invite you to a free ENERGY BOOST coaching session with me.  I open up a limited number of slots in my calendar every month. You can bring whatever's weighing you down and holding you back and leave with the best next step to move forward.

In our session you can pick ONE thing you want to learn about [making your dreams happen]:

  • how to plug up energy leaks so you feel energized and focus on your project
  • how to handle stress (so life can be more awesome)
  • decipher what your feelings are trying to tell you
  • how to make decisions that are right for YOU (not your mama, your coach or best friend)
  • what your triggers are (so you can prepare for them instead of letting them throw you off your game)
  • what your core life challenges are (and how to use them to help you grow)

At the end of our session, you’ll leave with one practical tip you can start using right away.  Practical action steps are my coaching superpower. I love boiling information into down-to-earth tidbits you can actually use. (I think it’s the Taurus in me:)

So if you want to learn how to make the process of giving birth to your dreams less painful and more freeing, sign up for your free ENERGY BOOST session with me.

Here’s how one of my clients described working with me:

“Over the years, I have worked with Ije. What is beautiful is that each time I may walk in with a slew of "stuff" and heavy anxiety, and then I walk away feeling grounded and sure in what it is that I want, and how I want to feel in the process.”  -  Morgan Cousins, Photographer, Writer and VA Extraordinaire

Hope we talk soon. I'd love to help you bring your dreams to life!

P.S. After you click the link you’ll fill out a quick intake form, give me your birth information (so I can share the power of Human Design with you) and sign up for your session with my online scheduler. Talk soon!

What to do when you feel like giving up on your big dream

Did you know I used to be a birth doula?

Part of birth doula’s job is to help moms come up with pain management strategies. With one particular mom, we decided to use visuals in the room to help her ride out her painful labor contractions.

The goal was to remind her to breathe and relax during each contraction so her cervix could open up fully and the baby could pass through.

Our natural tendency when we’re uncomfortable is to tense up our muscles. But doing this slows down the birth and can lead to marathon 4-day labor session. Not fun!

You may not know this, but the average diameter of sunflower disc is 10 centimeters. This is the same size of a dilated cervix. So we decided to put a picture of a sunflower field in her bedroom (where she was giving birth) so she could remember that each (painful) contraction was bringing her closer to meeting her new baby in the flesh.

The reason I’m telling you about my experience as a doula, is because it ties in so much with the work I do now.

And why I created my Flowductivity packages.

As a doula, I helped moms deal with discomfort—especially first time moms who had never attempted anything so big before. I helped them remember to relax so they wouldn’t slow down the birth process.

This is similar my work as a coach. I remind my clients to stop resisting reality and stay open to the possibilities around them.

This is where most people get stuck. When things aren’t going according the plan we dreamed up, we assume that something is wrong.  We think what we want is wrong. Or that there’s something fundamentally wrong with us that will prevent us from ever having what we want.

When you’re working toward a big goal there are so many unknowns that will pop up. Having support in place to remind you to (breathe) and stay open makes giving birth to your dreams less painful.

So let’s go back to sunflowers.

When I helped this woman during childbirth, the sunflower reminded her about why the pain she was feeling was worth it. It reminded her that her body was preparing to bring her precious baby into the world.

While she was mid-labor, there were moments when birthing seemed impossible. But the sunflowers reminded her that we’re absolutely made for this. With each contraction she had the choice to either focus on how painful it was OR how each contraction brought her closer to her baby.

It’s the same with our big dreams. It may seem insurmountable from where you stand in this moment to get to where you want to go because of all the obstacles and pain. But you're made for this, too.

So what’s your version of a sunflower?

Here are some 3 tips that will make the path to your dream a much smoother ride:

  1. Imagine that failure is impossible. What would you dream of being, doing or having? Write out what that looks like in real life: how would you feel the morning after your accomplish your big dream? what would you do to celebrate? who would you call to tell first?
  2. Find a story of someone or something that proves to you that this vision is possible. (Right now remembering that Toni Morrison didn’t publish her first novel till she was 41, is keeping my writing dreams alive. Her “late” start didn’t stop her from winning a Pulitzer Prize!)
  3. Then finally use an image or symbol to represent this story to remind you of what’s possible. (Here's mine.)

Then let me know in the comments, what’s your sunflower?

Not satisfied with your life right now?

I wrote this for you.

An astrologer-friend of mine once said:

“You’re the answer to the question the Universe was asking at the moment of your birth.”

Beautiful thought, right?

I wanted to believe it. Instead I spent most of my life thinking there was something wrong with me.  I’m too sensitive.  Too emotional.  Too naive. Too awkward.

I devoured self-help books with the same passion my sister uses to sift through shoe stores. (Just so you understand what I’m talking about - she ran a blog called Shoe Porn.)

I doubt there's a healing tool I haven’t read about, tried or been certified in.

The more I tried to "fix" myself, the further away I seemed from the peace of mind and confidence I was looking for.

Granted I made progress. I grew.  Dissolved huge chunks of trauma and felt my load lighten over the years.

But I didn’t start to really sink into myself until I had my first Human Design reading.

Now I’ve had readings before.  Everything from intuitive to numerology to astrology.  (Vedic. Chinese. And Western.) The Human Design reading was different for me. Something clicked.

I finally gave myself permission to be me.  Awkwardness and all.

The more I studied Human Design, the more relieved I felt.

For instance, I realized that what I thought was indecisiveness was actually part of my decision-making process. In the Human Design system there are seven different ways you can be wired to tap into your intuition

My decision-making process is connected to the energy center that processes emotional energy. So when I make a decision it's like I have a jury of 12 emotional selves that need to weigh in on the decision and be heard. This can take 2-3 days.

So now instead of rushing to make important decisions. Or calling myself a flake for having mixed feelings about what to do. I give myself more space to feel what I'm feeling and listen in for what I can learn.

Human Design taught me how to set myself free and it can do the same for you.

So what is Human Design?

A unique, personality assessment tool. It uses astrology, the Kabbalah, the chakra system and I-Ching to map out your one-of-a-kind energy blueprint.  Human Design readings can show you everything from how you’re wired to make decisions to what your core life challenge is.

You can quickly pinpoint the innermost fears that are getting in the way of your happiness without years of psychoanalysis.

No more second guessing. Or needing your mom, best friend and psychic to weigh in before you can choose your next step.
