Are you cheating on your dreams with Netflix? Read this love letter

Hi You,
It’s me, Your Dream Work aka your real work. It’s been a while since we’ve had a heart-to-heart and I just wanted to let you know that I miss you.

Lately, our relationship has been rocky. We haven’t been spending as much time as I’d like together. And I really want that to change.

I know you’re busy. You’ve got bills to pay, kids to feed and laundry piling up that needs to get sorted. Then washed. And then folded. (Seems like you spend more time with laundry then with me.)

But I’m not here complaining. I’m here because I have an idea. How about we revive our relationship by becoming pen pals?

For the next 5 days, I’ll send you a letter with a suggestion about how we can fix one of the challenges getting between us. I’ll give you some soul-to-soul questions. And then you send me your response.

Let’s start with a biggie...you don’t spend enough time with me.

First off, I get it. I see all you have to juggle in a day. So let’s take a different approach. Instead of planning long, elaborate dates once in a while, let’s spend regular short moments of quality time. I’d rather spend 15-minutes of intimate one-on-one time with you everyday than 1 hour with you once or twice a month.

Quality time is my love language. And knowing we’ll have consistent time together makes me feel safe and loved. So please stop planning long, drawn-out, complicated dates where you’ll write a whole chapter of a book or rewrite your whole website in one afternoon.

Instead let’s start with 15 minutes everyday, where we can peek into each other’s hearts and share how we’re feeling with these tiny love notes to each other.

Your first set of soul-to-soul questions are:

  • Are you willing to carve out 15 minutes everyday for the next 7 days to read my love note and respond with a heartfelt note?
  • Can you promise to be consistent and attach it to a habit you already do everyday, so you can help your brain to make space for me in your day?
  • If you said yes to the last question, tell me when you’ll be writing your notes to me. For instance, I promise to write and send you these notes after I wake up and have my morning tea.

I can’t wait to hear from you!

Yours always,

Your Dream Project
